Wolfgang Grasse

"Fantastic Realism cannot be compared with Surrealism as a garden cannot be compared with a jungle. The fantasy of the Surrealist comes from the subconscious without formal order or relation, whereas the Fantastic Realist uses his images selectively. He uses old and new symbols to express his art purposefully and to show that the human situation never really changes in its eternal truths. The automatism of images of the Surrealist are a sharp contrast to the meaningful symbolism of the Fantastic Realist."

Internet shit I'm diggin'

So it's been a while since I last posted anything on ESP, but that's only because I've been radding out all day and definately not because I've been teaching numbskull kids how to design absolute ass on photoshop whilst wanting to cut open my eyeballs with a bread knife......no really, I honestly have been radding out. Anyway, during the rest times between awsoming out, I have been looking at cool shit on the net and here are a few of my finds in no real order:

1. The alien abduction lamp:

I was a little hesitant to post this as I want one and I would rather no one else in the world had one, but then I thought well 'who cares' and 'I'm not going to buy one any more anyway cuz I'm over it already'.

2. A few of the most assome tats ever:

and my personal favourite:

3. The Internet Shack from Thrasher.com:

4. Ultimately assome bands to skate to:

Radio Moscow (thanks to Jonners for this hook up)

Eyehategod (because they are the greatest band ever made and they reformed AND they are playing in London next month and I'm going)

5. Dope films that should be watched given half a chance:

Trash Humpers by Harmony Korine

Running Stumbled by John Maringouin

6. Style for miles:

Style Master Trev
Gree & co.
Das RK

Well hopefully that will keep you bedroom dwellers/slackers/stoners/agrophobes something to occupy yourselves with for a few minutes at least. If not go fucking skateboarding! If you don't skate, then I suggest you learn.......it'll be the best thing you ever do.

UK Internet Ranks 25th - 'Not Fit For The Future'

Research sponsored by Cisco has ranked the world’s broadband networks, with the UK performing poorly in 25th place.

The research was based on 24 million speed tests performed in 66 countries. The ratings focused on both download and upload speeds, as well as latency, combined with broadband penetration to create an overall index of quality.
Sitting atop the table was South Korea then Japan, whose super-fast broadband was already judged to be fit for future applications such as streaming High Definition video.
At 25th, the UK came behind Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia to name a few. In fact both Bulgaria and Latvia had “ready for tomorrow” rated networks.
We’ll still be lagging just a tad behind South Korea, a country which is talking about having widespread 1Gbps by 2012. Yes – 1000Mbps. Makes you want to cry into your router…

Broke Ass Sunday

Gorgoroth "Unchain My Heart"

Sundays have always had a little dread looming in the background for me, as it is merely hours before Monday and you have to start the work for another shitty week (unless you've got a job you enjoy and in which case I hate you). Even if you're not employed it's merely hours before all your employed friends go to work leaving you feeling lazy and pitiful for yourself for not having a job.

Bethlehem 'Tagebuch Einer Totgeburt'

This post has been designed both to represent the dread of the remaining hours of Sunday and the looming horror that awaits you on Monday (having stayed up too late drinking or looking at crap on the internet), and also the joy of being able to play anti-social music really loud (something that is usually frowned upon in the office) and celebrating the few hours left of freedom.

So, if you're a fan of this genre and like me you feel the dread of Monday looming ahead, then crank up yer speakers, let them R&B fassies next door know what time it is, and indulge in some of the raddest in black and doom.

Graves at sea (Documentary pt.1)
